Try before you commit
Use school or rental equipment while you learn what works for you. Ask a qualified instructor to help match equipment to your ability, size and usual conditions. There is no universal beginner setup.
Think in systems
For wingfoiling, the board, foil and wing need to work together. For paragliding, the wing, harness and reserve need appropriate sizing and compatibility. Include protective equipment, servicing and training in your budget.
Look beyond the price tag
With second-hand equipment, request its history and an appropriate professional inspection. For flight equipment, ask your school or a qualified service centre to assess suitability and condition before purchase.
